What is your favorite thing to do in the summer?

My  favorite thing to do in the summer...

For me it is a tie between swimming in the cool Mediterranean for hours on end, and watching a good film at an outdoor cinema under the stars. You can’t beat Greek summer not even from a seat in heaven—despite our usual complaints about the heat, the economy, and so on. I am beginning to see how summer heat dictates a change in our lives, a definite break in our life’s continuity.

This break can be transformative, if we are ready to see and feel it as such. Take a moment to think of your favorite things to do, and also a moment to reflect: what do I need most right now? Then carve out some time from your daily schedule to give yourself this valuable gift.

I would like to share some of this summer’s most uplifting, inspirational moments with you, thus I started, guess what: A Blog! From now on you can click on Vivi’s Blog to check out quotes, thoughts on yoga, zen, poetry, and shared advice on living a healthy balanced life. Also, feel free to send us some of your own favorites… NYSY’s lively community would love to check them out.

August is a month for relaxation and rejuvenation, a break from everyday activities. Such a pause allows you to rediscover the beauty of life, the immense depth of our inner existence, and to reconnect with the divine spirit flowing through all living beings.

I strongly recommend shaping your summer plans to include:

  •     Time to be alone
  •     Connwct with nature
  •     Daily asanas
  •     Breathing
  •     Purification practices: jala neti for the nose, scrubbing the skin, fasting, detoxing
  •     Swimming, and, most importantly,
  •     Meditation

Namaste,
Vivi
